Extension/Outreach
We take knowledge beyond the classroom where it can
be applied immediately by Colorado citizens.
Colorado State University Food Science and Human Nutrition
Extension acts as a liaison between the university and
the community. By utilizing resources within the university,
Extension is able to disseminate current, accurate,
and research-based food science and nutrition information
to Extension Agents located throughout the state, as
well as professionals and community members.
For students in Food Science and Human Nutrition, this
link to the community offers a wonderful opportunity
to integrate scientific research and methodology in
practical ways to meet the communitys needs.
Our main objectives are to:
- field consumers and professionals questions
on nutrition and food safety (such as food preservation)
- design, develop, and implement appropriate nutrition
and food safety education programs for various populations
within Colorado
- assist community programs and agencies in meeting
specific food safety and nutrition education goals
- apply research-based information to design and deliver
un-biased, accurate nutrition, food safety, and health
programs
